Description

1962 Ford F-100 2wd. short bed Unibody pickup . A mild custom build featuring techniques of the late 1960’s through early 1970’s. video #1 here > https://youtu.be/i3OcmDGvpu8?feature=shared video #2 here (discussing the restoration) https://youtu.be/91jANAaaFmE?feature=shared Mechanical: The period correct driveline system is completely rebuilt utilizing a 1965 Galaxie 289 cid. 2bbl. V-8 engine with a 1972 heavy duty 3 speed automatic transmission. All related and or bolt on parts to function are also replaced with new or properly serviced as required. The original 9 inch rear end, with brake assemblies, were retained and re-built as well utilizing a custom built driveshaft to finish the connection. The original front end components are all new or rebuilt, with the addition of power disk brakes with power booster. The two tone colors are period correct from Ford, including the interior. An all electric one piece instrument cluster was utilized as is an in dash vacuum gauge. The rear bumpers are 1968 Corvette, fronts are 1958 Cadillac. Both being heavily customized for fit and finish. The custom wood bed inserts, and trim, were built and installed in an antique boat shop to utilize 4 different wood species. It is removable if desired leaving no trace of ever being there. The builder thoroughly enjoyed building this exact truck as remembered, cruising through my High School student parking lot in 1972. This body off the frame effort took 6 years of nights and week-ends along with a trip from the SouthWest Colorado to Its new home in upstate New York. "Shorty” as it was named , was entered in 2 regional antique and classic car shows this last season and awarded first in class both . All the receipts and part numbers have been retained.
